Directions to Celbridge and St Patrick’s Church

From the M50 take the N4 turn off (Galway Road)

Continue down past Liffey Valley turn off, past the Woodies turn off, past the Newcastle/Lucan junction.

At this point you have 2 options:

  1. Pass the Spa Hotel on your left, and take the turn off after that at the Toyota garage, for Celbridge/Leixlip, take a left at the top of the slip road, and continue straight down that road, past Weston airfield (on your right), keep going through the next t-junction, past the Orchard Garden Centre (also on your right), keep going until you reach a petrol station on your left, you will be coming to the bridge over the Liffey and into Celbridge. This is like a cross-road but you have right of way, keep following the road to the right (The Abbey pub is on the right) over the bridge and when you get over the bridge, take a right onto the main street. Note: Traffic coming from the left here has got right of way so be careful. The church is half-way down the road on the left hand-side of the main street.
  2. Pass the Spa Hotel on your left and stay ON the N4, pass the turn off for Celbridge/Leixlip and keep going. The speed limit here goes up to 120km.  Keep on the motorway until the next turn off, which is sign-posted Celbridge West/Leixlip West. Take this slip road.  Go up- the slip road to the very top of the slip road (don’t take the slip road off the slip road as you will see, this will bring you to Hewlett Packard) and go onto the roundabout, take the turn off for Celbridge. Follow this road to the end, take the left hand turn at the roundabout. Continue down this road, you will pass Celbridge House on your right, then Aldi, then Tesco. You will go over a speedbump and then reach the end of the road, where you will turn right. This brings you to the opposite end of the main street. Continue down the main street and the church is half-way down on your right.

Parking:

Paid parking (unfortunately, but its very cheap, have a few 20 cents on you)-

  • Main Street Celbridge
  • Behind Xtravision
  • St Patrick’s Park (turn beside the AIB bank)
  • Celbridge Abbey (turn left when you come over the bridge and its down past the Mill on your left)
  • Castletown (end of Main St and straight on, then to your left when you get through the gates)

Directions to Liffey Valley House Hotel

Again, there are 2 ways of getting there:

1. Via Dublin Road (old Celbridge Road)

Take a right out of church along main street, left over the bridge and continue on that road past Weston airfirled on your left, over the N4 motorway, to the roundabout.  Take a LEFT at the roundabout and go down this road to the end to the Salmon Leap Pub on your left. The road turns to the right and you will go over a bridge.

Directly after the bridge, the road turns to the left, but you will go right here.

When you take the turn, go down the road and you will see a fire station on your left, take a left here so the fire station is now on your right.

Continue past the fire station, and past the sign for St Catherines park. The turn for Liffey Valley House Hotel is on the right after that sign. Follow the road to the top and be wonderous at the scenery around you.

2. Via the Celbridge West turn off.

Take a left out of the church, to the end of the main street and turn left.

Follow the road until you get to a roundabout, take the 2nd exit off this.

You will pass an Apple petrol stn on your left. Follow the road to the roundabout, go straight through the roundabout (Leixlip West, 3rd turn off).

Follow the road through the next roundabout and down to the end of the road, which is also a roundabout. Take the right at this roundabout and keep going.

You should pass Lidl on your right, then a train station on your left, keep going and you will pass a church to your right, go down a hill and come to a very sharp bend in the road to the left. This is now Leixlip main street.

Continue down this street through a set of traffic lights and when the road goes to the right, you will take the slip road directly in front of you- you won’t turn right, in other words.
