Some broochs I made for my friend S, on her request.

This one was crocheted, with 2 layers

This one was also crocheted

and this one was knit, 2 layers again.

here they are together

I had fun with the pinky one, if you put it under your shirt it looks like a nip*le (tee hee)

Yeah, you though you’d get a look, didnt you? ;-)

Plans and accomplishments

I’d love to be one of those bloggers who’s words come easily to them, and who manage to transport you into their lives for a little while, as you read their latest entry about what exciting and wonderful things have been happening, all the crafty things they have been up to, whilst holding down a powerful job, raising 10 kids, cooking wonderful organic foods, baking delicious muffins.
I’m not, so I wont try and force it! plus, I don’t like to put too much of my personal life on here as who knows will be reading it.
I think I would be a boring regaler of my every day life.  Its not as terribly exciting as most of those bloggers seem to portray of theirs.. Yes we went to a table quiz last night, on a week night too, and didnt get home til midnight. The excitement! (oh, we didnt win, we didnt lose, and came in a respectable top quarter of the contestants, not bad considering there were 25+ tables, most with 4 people, some with 5, and we were only 3)**

Ive just discovered one of those blogs, well, when I say discovered, its more of a discovered again, so Ive had an enjoyable read.

Anyway, we have knitting.  And sewing. And crochet. And other crafty things as my needs require.

I’ve been doing a lot of knitting recently.

I had myself tied into the Tangled Yoke Cardigan (Ravelry link sorry) for home knitting, and my Jaywalker socks for knitting at lunchtime in work, but suddenly, despite my good intentions not to cast on anything else til I’d finished one of those projects, I’ve become overrun.

I suppose overrun is not really the word for it, I havent cast on a squillion projects, but I do now have a list of things requested/on the needles.
Want to see it?

Okay, first off OTN:

  • Tangled Yoke Cardigan, we knew that one
  • Jaywalker socks  no.2 (on the final stretch)
  • Mobile Phone covers ( 5 done, at least 7 more to go…request by my Dad for the local Silver Thread Club’s Christmas fete, its a local group of older people who organise day trips and events for themselves, the run this every year to get some funds together, a worthwhile knitting venture)
  • Baby booties, first one in process of being kitchener stitched (to match the little vest that my Mum did for Leo, in the hopes he wont grow out of the vest before I finish the booties)..(must see if I can get a picture of the vest)
  • Crocheted washcloth (as I had been teaching my sister to crochet last week, I continued on after she had left, been sitting in my WIP bag ever since)

Just finished:

  • An idea I had for my Etsy shop

In the queue:

  • A Clapotis for my Mum. She saw the one I finally finished (must show a pic!) and even though previously she’s always said she didnt want anything knit for her,and she doesnt like anything around her neck, she expressed a liking for this so I said I’d knit her one (thats Christmas sorted!) . I debated about yarn, getting the same type of yarn for her (Mini Maiden, very yum) or use from my extensive stash and decided that I would have a look for something at the Knitting and Stitching show and if I didnt see something suitable, Id knit from my stash.
  • Funky ski hat for my sisters BF, he mentioned last week that he’d like one to stand out from the other snowboarders, thats Christmas sorted there again!
  • Little Sisters Dressfor my Goddaughter, she’ll be 10 months at Christmas so better make it while I can

  • More soakers for Leo, have had the wool for about a month now
  • Hat for myself- I can’t find my beret from last year and really annoyed about it. I NEED hats in the winter…havent got any other decent hand knit ones, had to resort to a shop bought one this morning.
  • Armwarmers (for me). Could wait until everything else is done..
  • My sister wants me to do a craft fair again with her this year.  Ive nothing done and havent much motivation/time to do anything for it. I may just hold up the stall with her if it comes to it.
  • Pair of socks for my Dad for Christmas. I WILL change his mind on them.
  • Liesl for me. Ive bought the yarn, and will wait until I finish the TYC to cast on for this.

  • Friend just had a baby boy so need to knit something for him
  • Another very close friend is due her 2nd baby in about a month…
  • Another close friend is due in Feb.

Those babies just keep a-coming!!

** How was I supposed to remember that ovine meant sheep…..just cos I knit…and live for wool…
