I’m only human…

A friend of mine is Canadian, and lives in London. She is coming over to Dublin for a conference in November and will be extending her stay in order to stay with me, shop in Avoca, browse a few shops, and have a few drinkies.

Sherri was planning on going home to Canada before then and I thought, hmm, maybe I could get my grubby little hands on some yarn from one of the stores there….she said no problem, she would bring me whatever I asked, just to let her know where to get it and what I wanted.

Enter Diane, also Canadian, and who was at the time, just about to head home for a visit. Diane knows Lettuce Knit quite well (it seems!!). Diane sent me lengthy emails on what yarn stores there are in Toronto, and what to expect from them.

After doing a little bit of pondering, I decided to try out some Handmaiden yarn, and some Socks that Rock if at all possible, thinking that maybe I will ask Sherri to bring me more if I like them. Diane very kindly said she would get a skein of each for me.

Diane went and returned from Canada, and I met up with her yesterday to force her to hand over the yarn, exchange yarn for hard cash. Mmmmm, it IS nice.

Diane also brought me the latest Knitscene, which I quite like.

I have had the Clapotis pattern on my mind for a long time now, well, since last week when I got the bus into town and almost froze in the cold, all I could think of was casting on for the C-Lap that evening when I got home! Anyway, I think it may just be possible to knit it in the Handmaiden yarn….anyone done it using one skein of Handmaiden Mini Maiden?? Its got 500m/100g and the C-lap requires 550m of Lorna’s Laces…. hmm…may have to try it at least…

Oh, what did I tell Sherri?

Nothing, she’s been to Canada and back before I realised!!
