Have you any idea of how often I see this?Â
Then staring at the door handle as if its going to magically open by itself. Sometimes accompanied by a pityful meow, as if to let the neighbours know how badly I’m treating him.
On the off chance the door is going to be opened, being joined by his brother.
Both staring at the handle now, just willing it to be opened.
And I open it for them, thus making their psychic powers work.
Five minutes, nay, sometimes ONE minute into being inside, they are on the other side of that door, wanting out.Â
It begins again.
Yup! Can tell a story about this, too! And everybody laughs about me ranting about “in-and-out-and-out-and-in”. Well, kind of makes me feel better, that I’m not the only one “suffering” from it.

Great pictures! We spend a lot of time doing the same thing at our house, though one of ours dashes out when you open the door, and then when you start to close it, dashes back inside. Then meows to get out again …
Give them a pat from me.

Our front door locks automatically…no way to keep it unlocked. Great for security living in the city, but DREADFUL when you have an active 7-year-old-son who is constantly in and out! Much like the cats, I think…

I love those pictures! My cat Packet does the same thing. She must really think that she’s telekinetic when she stares at the doorknob.
Your two lil guys there are truly, TRULY handsome. The one on the left is very expressive:
1. “Get out of the way with your stupid camera. I’m working on the doorknob right now.”
2. “Hang on, it seems to be stuck. I’m staring a little closer to see if that works.”
3. “They really need to fix this thing. It doesn’t always work right away.”

But you see…this is why cats think they are superior~~They THINK they are using their mind powers to open it!
