Just when you thought it was all over

June 30th, 2008

We’re back !
Actually we have been back a few days, but have been catching up with family mainly and back to work today (serious depression!!) since. (Really should have tried to get a few more days off….)

The wedding was wonderful. Seems like a lifetime away now.
Everything went well, the rings were dropped on the alter, but that was it, our priest was immensely entertaining, everyone was talking about how great he was.
We got the best day of sunshine yet in Ireland this year!
The venue was great, I couldn’t fault them on anything.
Food was great, and lots of it, the speeches were entertaining, the band were brilliant and got everyone up dancing, and the DJ played all the songs we wanted him to play.
I felt that I hadn’t got talking to half of the guests but apparently thats something that all brides and grooms feel.
Reports back from friends and family have all been good though so that makes me feel good.
Bits of it are still a bit of a blur, and seeing everyones photos is a great way of bringing things back to us.  In fact we saw a little video the other night of us dancing, which was quite funny….it was towards the end of the night so we were all letting loose at that stage.

Its all over now.  Sigh.

I’ll put some photos up on flickr and give a link here when I do. Havent had a chance yet.

One of the sites that I visited frequently when we were researching our honeymoon is Virtual Tourist.
This is an invaluable source of information, for us in particular, as it doesnt just review hotels, it also gives you tips on places to eat in the vacinity, places to go to, things to see, things to do, things to avoid, off the beaten track tips, and warnings or recommendations.
So, after reading about others peoples experiences in San Francisco, and Aruba, and benefiting from their advice, I am in the process of putting together my own travel pages with our own experiences on our travels.
Thus saving you guys the tedium of reading all about it here, but you can still go and check it out on my profile. Its still a work in progress so watch THAT space!

I may still subject you to a photo or two here (evil laugh)

In the meantime, I’ll be checking out more photos, as they trickle in, and try not to feel depressed that its all over….

Is it over??

:-(

It went by so quick…and bits of it are a blur….but Ive seen some photos and it all looks good!

Very cryptic eh?

I got married on Friday…..

Best day of my life.

A couple of days off to catch up with family, and we are off on honeymoon tomorrow morning, far to early for me to be blogging about it all now. San Francisco and Aruba…here we come!

Until next time…

Knit Picks needles close up! and back to blogging photos, yay

May 20th, 2008

Knit Picks needles close up!
I’ve been doing a bit of test blogging from flickr and having a play around with it. Seemingly flickr changed some settings at the start of the year and thats why I was having problems both here and on my ravelry page. I didn’t have too much time to look into it before but got a chance recently.

As I’m sure you are aware, I’m getting married in….10 days time!! EEK!!

So I’ve not really been doing much internet stuff in the past while, nor have I missed it too much really! Its a time sucking thing. In fact, recently, we have been even leaving the tv off in the evening time to do things, and to listen more to the radio. One big draw this week will be to listen to  Rte radio1 at 7pm. Why, I hear you ask?

Because my fiance’s friend Eoin is covering for Dave Fanning while he is away this week. Yes, Dave Fanning, you heard me! We listened last night to Eoin and he did good! Eoin has previously presented on Radio before, on Newstalk, before it went national, but I didn’t know him then so I didn’t get a chance to tune into his show.

Its good listening! Tune in, and send him a text and tell him I said hello!!

Oh, and that photo was of the Honeymoon Wrap I’m making, along with the KnitPicks needles…..mmmmmhhhhhh

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

The post I was planning on posting previously

May 11th, 2008

I’m still not able to show pictures.

Anyone?

In the meantime, you can see my Honeymoon wrap, using the Knit Picks Needles that Isobel, Diane and Cheryl got me for my Hen, my Jaywalkers, and my Endless Spiral Hat in my Flickr photos here

Thanks a million girls, I love them and they are soo smooth. Giving me castonitis they are, and I can’t do that, not yet, I have a honeymoon wrap to finish (using the aforementioned needles, tee hee)

Some knitting shots

May 9th, 2008

OKay, wordpress is playing funny games now.

I had started writing a post, then found I couldnt upload any pictures, so deleted what I had written and asked if anyone else was having difficulties in uploading- both from my flickr account and from my pc pictures, and went and published it, and wordpress published what i had originally written, even though i had deleted it….

aargh!

*edited: and now it seems that the original post I’d written, which had been published, has now been removed. ???

So, back to where I was- is anyone having difficulties with uploading pictures ? I have tried to upload frm both my flickr account and my pc but neither will upload.

and there I was feeling wordy for once too!

Counting the Hen

April 25th, 2008

5 weeks to go til D-Day.
Not that I’m counting or anything.
Everyone else around me seems to be counting for me.  I have lost count of how many people over the last week have asked me- how many weeks to go then???
People then ask me if I’m nervous (no) and then scared (no). Some of them say there is still time to back out (no).
Its as if people want me to be nervous about the whole thing (I’m not okay?!) and are a bit purplexed that I’m not nervous.
Its as if they want me to break down in front of them, shaking and through copious tears, beg them for help.
I’M NOT NERVOUS OKAY??
I AM nervous, however, about this weekend.
My hen party. (Bachelorette party for all you American gals)
My sisters are arranging it.  All I was required to do was hand them a list of names and contact details.
I got told off, by both sisters, seperately, for contacting people to see if they were free that night. So I retreated into knowing nothing.
However, most of my friends have let slip where we are going. Aha!! Then another friend who isn’t going on the hen (she’s getting married very soon after me, she’s enough things to be doing) suggested that perhaps they were all leading me astray and we were in fact going to another destination….
Who knows then?! I’ll fill you in on Sunday….or maybe Monday depending how the head is holding up on Sunday.
One of my sisters said to me the other day, I know that you don’t want to go to a pub and go dancing (???????Show me the beer and the dancefloor people, !!!) so I had to set her straight on that.  I had said that I wanted to do something a little different, thats all. I don’t recall ever saying anything about not having some drink and some dancing…((shiver))
So now I’m quite nervous….
I do know there are no strippers involved.  Thats a relief. Phew. Thank God for that. Don’t know what I would have done with one.

Buttons to that!

April 23rd, 2008

Yay for finding camera to pc cables!!!

Actually, I still didnt find the original one, I hunted around til I found another one that I knew was hiding on me.

So I give you, the still almost finished……

Bridie

Almost finished, because I don’t like the way the buttons look on it. Buttons have been placed for the photo shoot but not sewn on.

dsc00141.JPG

Although I love these buttons, they seem to distract a little from the nice shaping that the cardigan has, so I’m going to have to get some more. Which means actually getting the time to get near a place that sells buttons. Ive seen ones I likes previously so will check them out again.

In the meantime, come and have a worship of these ones with me

How to be brought down to earth-by an almost 5 yr old

April 21st, 2008

We were down with M’s sister and family yesterday and just before we left, after I had said goodbye with his niece D,  I was jokingly showing her the fancy walks I said she must practise for her Flower-girls Duties of walking up the aisle.

You know those kind of walks, the sticking out the bum whilst flouncing, looking side to side… the exaggerated sticking the legs out in front of each other whilst wiggling the hands, - those kind of walks.

After watching me making a fool of myself in the sitting room while she had been colouring happily, she looked at me disdainfully and said……..

“Just go….”

So I did.

Talk about perfect comedy timing!
